Disclosure statement.

in the spirit of transparency...

i’m a retired technology marketing guy turned ski/surf bum and strategy advisor. i get paid in cash &/or stock by companies seeking to craft an ass-kicking business/marketing strategy. the work i do is designed to increase the value of the company i’m working with by improving their market position, increasing their sales, and destroying their competition.

from time to time i get paid to give a speech at an industry conference, company kick-off or user conference. i have relationships with several top-tier technology venture capitalists who from time-to-time ask me to serve as an advisor or board member to their companies. when HP purchased Mercury Interactive (where i served as CMO) for $5.5 billion in november of 2006 they became my favorite company of all time. from time-to-time i act as an advisor to HP. if/when i write something about a company that i have advised, i disclose it.

i believe that skiing, biking, scuba diving & surfing are great. i have a bias toward smart, great looking women and single malt scotch. while sammy hagar is awesome - david lee roth is the real van halen frontman, i believe canada is a wonderful country, eh? and America has been very, very good to me. people on the far left and the far right are crazy to me. i believe people should think for themselves. i am not affiliated with any political party or organized religion, however respect the rights of others to do so.

i believe there are only two kinds of music, good and bad. i believe there are three kinds of people:

  1. 1)legends

  2. 2)people who don’t suck

  3. 3)people who suck

it may sound harsh, but it’s true.

i concur with the teaching of spinal tap, “have a good time, all the time”, bob marley who sang, “emancipate yourselves from mental slavery,”  agree with iggy pop’s “lust for life,” and think REI’s tagline “out is in” is brilliant. george carlin, eddie murphy, louis C.K., ron white, lewis black, chris rock, & jon stewart make me laugh.  when hell freezes over, i’ll ski there too.
